Fatigue is something that affects most of us at some point in our lives. It’s normal to feel tired when you’ve got a lot on, or during a particularly stressful part of your life. But for some people, it’s more than a short-term issue. Research shows that nearly 70% of workers suffer from workplace fatigue which affects their productivity and mood. For some, fatigue is chronic. They struggle to get going in the morning, are tired before they even get out of bed, and even after being well-rested, they hit an afternoon slump that’s almost painful to work past.

Being a bit tired is normal, but when you have the kind of fatigue that makes it hard to stick to plans, enjoy life, work productively, or you feel tired every day no matter how well you’ve slept, it’s time to find ways to boost your energy levels. Here are six of the best tips to help you.

Eat Little and Often

Eating three big meals a day is enough to get the calories and nutrients that we need for the day. Eating three meals also leaves enough room between them to digest what you’ve consumed and to start to feel hungry again. But a big meal can leave us feeling sluggish, overfull, and tired. Many people find that eating six smaller meals or a combination of light meals and healthy snacks at regular intervals throughout the day is better. This can help you to avoid the fatigue of being very full while giving you easy energy boosts at regular intervals.

Exercise at the Right Times

Exercise can be a great energy boost, but it’s important to do it when you feel at your best. For some people, this is first thing in the morning, and for others, it’s later on. It’s worth looking at deals and vouchers for the fitness minded, so you’ve got everything that you need to exercise, whenever you choose to do it.

Move Regularly

Workouts aren’t the only way to boost your energy levels. Make sure you get up and move throughout the day and especially if you are starting to feel tired. Just getting up and stretching or taking a short work can give you a big energy boost.

Maintain a Healthy Weight

Being significantly over or underweight means that your body is working harder than it needs to just to function. If you can maintain a healthy weight, it won’t be working as hard, and you’ll feel less tired.

Find a Sleep Routine That Works for You

We’re told that we need eight hours of sleep to give our bodies time to rest and recover. We’re also offered advice on the perfect times to get up and go to sleep. But actually, there are no set rules. We usually need between 6 and 8 hours, but everyone is different. If you are a night owl, you might prefer to stay up late and sleep in. But some of us are at our best earlier in the day.

Experiment to find a sleep pattern that suits you and your lifestyle and then try to stick to it as much as you can. Routine will help you to regulate your energy levels.

Find Ways to Manage Stress

Stress is exhausting, but it’s something that many of us are living with. Find ways to manage your stress, like exercise, relaxing baths, reading, time with friends, and talking about your worries, and you might find that your fatigue eases.

Usually, a few simple lifestyle changes are all it takes to boost your energy levels and help you to avoid fatigue. But if you still feel very tired, you might want to see your doctor in case your fatigue is a symptom of something which needs further investigation.
