Poor body image is a major issue in our society and something that we don’t talk about enough. According to a recent study, over 61% of adults in this country have poor body image. And women are the ones who suffer from it the most with 90% of women saying that they are dissatisfied with the way their body looks. Poor body image can affect your personal and professional life and harm relationships. But what can you do to solve this? Let’s take a look at a few ways that you could boost your body image.

Focus on the Things About You That You Like

Most people have at least one trait about themselves that they like. It might be their hair, complexion, or the shape of their eyes. If you can’t find anything, think about the last time someone complimented you. If you still can’t find something that you love about your body right now, think about the traits or aptitudes you have or some of the things people said they liked about you. Maybe it’s your sense of humor, style, or personality? Once you’ve found something, concentrate on it, and start building your self-image around those traits.

Acknowledge the Situation

Now, you have to take a long hard look in the mirror and be realistic with yourself. You need to look at some of the things that you don’t like and see if there’s anything you can change. If you’re having bodyweight issues, then you will need to either start considering hopping on a fitness routine or look at surgery.

If you have issues with your face and hair, then know that losing weight could help there too. If you’re slightly over your ideal weight, losing a bit of body fat could help define your face. There are even facial exercises you can do to give your face some tone. You have the option of going for one or multiple surgical procedures as well, but this is something you have to be very careful with.

You have to make sure that your body image issues are not psychological. If you want to know if that’s the case, speak with people around you and talk about your plans of getting plastic surgery. Look at their reaction. If people literally act like you’re crazy, then the issue is probably mostly in your head. But if they start asking what type of procedure you intend to take and generally think that it could be a good idea, then maybe you should consider it.

Go to a Medical Spa

Another thing you could consider doing is going to a medical spa. Based on what you need, you could pamper yourself at a medical spa and receive all sorts of different treatments that could dramatically improve your appearance. Some spas will offer things like cool sculpting, which mimics some of the effects of liposuction without intrusion; a variety of skin rejuvenation techniques like microneedling and microdermabrasion; and even cosmetic surgery in some cases. So, look at a few medical spas in your area and see what they have to offer.

Dress for Your Body

One of the worst things you can do when you have poor body image is to try to hide it with clothes. No matter what your body looks like, there are things you can do to make it look better by the way you dress.

If you instantly want to look better in clothes, take everything you have to a tailor. Learn how to use prints and colors to complement your figure and skin tone. Also, use accessories to fix things like height issues or improve your features.

If you feel like you could be a bit more confident about your body, follow our advice. We would also suggest that you go see a professional today so you can get to the bottom of the issue.
