Many people want to achieve optimal health so that they can live long and feel good. Physicians, such as Dominique Fradin-Read, understand the importance of health maintenance for all individuals. Check out this list of six things you can do to obtain optimal health.

1. Drink Enough Water

Make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day. Doing so can assist with digestion, improve the appearance of your skin, flush toxins from your body, and increase your levels of energy. It is recommended that men drink about a gallon of water per day while women drink around three-quarters of a gallon of water per day.

2. Get Plenty of Sleep

There are many benefits associated with getting an adequate amount of high-quality sleep each night. Such benefits include better memory, an enhanced immune system, weight loss, skin renewal, increased vitality, and an improved attention span. People under the age of 18 should get eight or more hours of sleep each night while those 18 or older should aim for at least seven hours of sleep each night.

3. Eat Whole Foods

If you want to be healthy, stay away from processed foods and opt for whole foods instead. Many whole foods are rich in nutrients, so they will be able to sustain and nourish you. Some examples of whole foods include rice, quinoa, apples, oranges, carrots, yams, spinach, green beans, pinto beans, and chickpeas.

4. Entertain Healthy Relationships

Toxic relationships can cause added stress, which could negatively impact your health. Try your best to attract healthy relationships into your life and cut out unhealthy ones. Mutually beneficial connections can provide you with the emotional support you need to get through tough periods of time.

5. Visit Your Doctor Regularly

You can keep your body in good working condition by going to your primary care provider on a regular basis. Your doctor will conduct a routine health check-up and determine if there is anything you can do to minimize your risk of contracting certain illnesses. He or she may suggest that you lose weight, lower your blood pressure, and decrease your consumption of alcohol.

6. Exercise Consistently

It may be difficult to stick to a weekly or daily exercise schedule but doing so can do wonders for your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Note that you do not have to engage in strenuous workouts. You can reap the health benefits of exercising by simply doing light cardio, strength training, or stretching sessions.

Some believe that good health is more valuable than silver and gold. Rest assured that there are things you can do to attain it.
