While it might be heard scary being advised to self-quarantine or self-isolate, remember, the many people who have contracted coronavirus have experienced mild symptoms like the common cold or flu, and have recovered completely. The virus can be deadly for those who are at high-risk such as people having diabetes, High BP, Kidney, or liver problems, particularly the elder age group. That’s why it’s crucial to take the essential steps to prevent the virus from spreading. Anthony Constantinou explains some ways to protect yourself and others during a quarantine or isolation period:

Restrict yourself at home

Restrict your out-of-home activities, avoid public transportation, ride-sharing, and taxis. If you require groceries or medical supplies, try using an online delivery service where everything is delivered right outside your door.

Separate yourself

Keeping to one room is highly recommended. It will not only save your family and friends but stop the chain of the virus. You should even use a separate bathroom if possible.

Don’t forget wearing a mask

Wearing a face mask is useful to avoid the spread of the virus. Remember to even wear a facemask before entering the doctor’s clinic as they can catch COVID-19 due to your occurrence. Keep yourself isolate in every condition.

Don’t play with pets

Household pets are also testing positive for COVID-19. It might be due to close contact with infected humans. However, there are still no confirmed reports about this concern, but instead taking a risk, you should avoid playing with pets too. COVID-19 transmission from humans to pets are still not confirmed, however, seeing the coronavirus pattern, it is recommended that infected people must take care of a pet and wash hands before and after with any interaction.

Avoid sharing personal items

Avoid spreading viruses by not sharing dishes, utensils, towels, or other personal items with any member at our home. After using these items, you should wash them thoroughly with soap and water and keep yourself safe and clean too.

Frequent washing of hands

Frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer to avoid spreading germs. This is one of the crucial ways to avoid infection.

Clean and disinfect areas regularly

Wipe down the most used surfaces like countertops, doorknobs, toilets, phones, and keyboards by spraying sanitizers or using household cleaners and wipes.

Continuously monitor your symptoms

Symptoms monitoring is crucial whether you are in isolation or not. If you see any symptom whether its fever, cough, sneezing, lethargic, cold, headache, or anything worse, contact your main care provider or medical doctors. Reach out to the care center working 24/7 for everyone. Please avoid going to one and more medical or healthcare centers to get confirmation. Just go to the government medical centers and take treatment.

Even in case you are not experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, it’s crucial to follow all these safety measures for the self-quarantine or isolation period. To continue or discontinue your isolation or quarantine period, you need to contact your healthcare provider.
