No matter whether you live in a large family or all by yourself, keeping a clean and tidy home is of the essence. When you live in an uncluttered space, you’ll notice how you don’t get as stressed out anymore. Not to mention, finding that item you usually spend hours looking for will become all the easier. However, without a strict cleaning regime, dirty dishes can often pile up and your place of comfort can quickly turn into a nightmare.

That’s why it’s important that you conduct a thorough spring clean every once or twice a year. In this blog, we’ll be sharing six of our most essential spring-cleaning tips and tricks, so you can enjoy a pristine home all year round.

Empty the Refrigerator

It’s always good to check your refrigerator on a regular basis and throw out any products that may have expired. Remove the interior shelves and use soapy water to clean them thoroughly. Make sure to dry the shelves properly before placing them back inside.

Declutter Your Closets

If you’re guilty of frequent retail therapy trips, your closet may be overflowing with items you have barely used. Have no remorse and get rid of anything you no longer wear. However, don’t forget to donate any unwanted items to your nearest charity shop.

Steam Clean the Microwave

Kitchen cleaning is incredibly important, as this is the area where you prepare your food. Steam clean the microwave by mixing two cups of water with two tablespoons of white vinegar in a bowl and boiling the mixture in your microwave. Proceed to wipe down the inside once the steam has filled the microwave.

Wash Shower Curtains

When we tackle the bathroom and give it a deep clean, we rarely think to wash the shower curtains themselves. Just toss your shower curtains into the washer and select the gentle setting.

Get Rid of Expired Cosmetics

Just as you get rid of food products that are past the sell by date, you should do the same with your beauty products. Check the expiry date or ‘period after opening’ sign that should be displayed on the label. For example, mascara tends to keep well for a maximum of six months after opening.

De-Stink All Drains

If you’ve noticed a strange smell emanating from one of the rooms of your home, it could be a result of some serious drain blockage. You can buy the product to do so from your local store or make your own version with baking soda, vinegar, and salt.

At the end of the day, it’s important to conduct daily cleaning touch-ups to compliment your spring clean. There’s no point in spending all your time and efforts deep cleaning your home if you don’t plan on keeping it immaculate.

Find out a schedule that works around your lifestyle and don’t be afraid to delegate tasks to others in your household. After all, teamwork makes the dream work. Every member of the house should play a small part in keeping a spotless home.
