Are you growing as a person? This is a question that many of us ask ourselves from time to time, but it can be difficult to answer. After all, personal growth is not always easy to measure.

In this post, we will discuss some great signs that can help you determine if you’re growing or not in life.

Signs You Are Growing As a Person

1. You Feel Uncomfortable Doing Nothing

We can all remember back to a time where we could quite literally sit on the couch all day long watching tv or playing games without a care in the world (maybe some of us still have a day or 2 like that).

When you literally feel uncomfortable being lazy, see that as nothing short of fantastic. This means you are beginning to value your time and understand that there’s more to life than lounging.

In order to grow, we need to decide to push ourselves out of our comfort zones from time to time, even though it may hurt. So if laziness makes you feel uneasy along your journey, then kudos to you.

2. You’re More Productive Than Ever

Productivity is clearly a sign of growth. If you’re finding that you’re getting more done in less time, then you’ve officially tapped in to how to prioritize your responsibilities and time in your life!

Being productive means that you are learning how to use your free time efficiently. This is an important skill that will help you in all aspects of life.

So if you’re finding that you have more energy to accomplish tasks, then no matter what this proof of growth.

This could all be due to the fact that you’re learning new skills and becoming more efficient with your time. Whatever the reason may be, it’s a good thing! And remember – don’t get too comfortable; there’s always room for improvement!

3. You Take Initiative More Often

If you’re finding yourself taking initiative through conscious decision, it means that you’re ready to face new challenges head-on when they arise, which means when an opportunity comes around you’re willing and able to take it.

Taking initiative and being decisive has been argued to be that of which all one needs in his or her life. This is an important skill to have, especially in today’s world where it seems the desire for someone else to take the first step is the norm.

Also, taking initiative shows that you are confident in yourself to get the task done… which is highly sought after.

4. You’re Interested In Learning New Things

This could be anything from learning a new skill to studying a different topic. When we’re constantly expanding our knowledge, it means that we’re growing intellectually. And as we all know, intelligence is key to success in life!

If you’re interested in learning new things, that’s great because it means you’re always looking for ways to grow whether you are consciously thinking that way or not. Slowly moving away from your comfort zone shows great self care, looking out for your future.

Learning is such an important part of growth and personal development. And if we are not growing then what the heck are we doing here in life? The process of learning alone, takes a legitimate effort in life and is always followed by happiness after the fact.

If you feel like you have a renewed sense of passion in life and are excited to do things that once felt overwhelming or boring, it’s due to personal growth.

5. You Take Responsibility For Your Actions

“Being responsible is an enormous privilege, it’s what marks anyone a fully grown human.” – Barrack Obama

Taking responsibility for your actions and owning up to your mistakes, puts you not only one step ahead of a past you… but also leaps beyond most other people.

It takes courage and maturity to admit when we’re wrong – and this is something that only those who are growing can do. By taking responsibility for our actions, we learn from our past experiences and become better people as a whole.

6. You Know What You Want

“The man who actually knows just what he want’s in life has already gone a long way towards attaining it.” – Napoleon Hill

If you know what you want in life, that’s a clear cut sign that you’re growing. For example, if your goal is to become a doctor or an engineer, then congratulations!

You’ve taken the first step towards becoming one by actually knowing what it takes for someone who wants to achieve those goals. This will help guide your decisions now and into adulthood when they are most important.

It can be hard to look back and reflect sometimes… but knowing what you want doesn’t just come overnight. 99% of the time, it takes doing a ton of what we don’t like until getting fed up enough to start soul searching.

7. Your Social Circle is Shrinking

At first glance, this may not seem like a good thing. That’s an understandable assumption, but get this… Setting boundaries for toxic people is always a good choice in life, not to mention just how good it is for your mental health too.

We all start off trying to gather friends, be popular, hang out with the cool kids etc. But there come’s a point in time where you’re constantly noticing things amongst the crowd that you dislike, these “friends” aren’t there for you in times of need, nobody really listens to you, talk behind your back, etc. So you start to dwindle down a little by little.

Eventually you’ve got to the point where there’s really only 3 people in your life that you would consider good friends, and that’s perfect. This means you successfully got rid of the ones who weren’t really friends of yours to start with. Spend time with yourself.

8. You Depend On You and Only You

This is perhaps one of the biggest factors in showcasing growth.

We come into this world being completely dependant of another human being (parents, guardians, etc) to take care of our necessities. We look to these people to help with every single thing we do.

Once you branch off into being dependant of yourself in order to get the things done that need to be taken care of… that’s a great sign. You can rest assured that you’ve reached the point of growth. This isn’t an opinion, it’s a fact that if you can depend on yourself to do things that you once required others to take care of.. you have grown.

Once you depend on yourself, you can finally come to the truest of all realizations… There isn’t anything that you can’t do.

9. Your Outlook on Life is Ultimately Positive

Toxic people are all around us, so this is not to say there aren’t times when everyone and everything feels like it’s absolutely against you… everyone goes through this on occasion.

But being positive about life is a result of understanding what the negative feels and sounds like, having contrast. Positivity shows that you’ve come from a place at some point or another that wasn’t always so positive and are able to see the beauty in it now.

Understand this. Unfortunately, most people believe that life on this beautiful planet we inhabit is hard and often too stressful, so sit back and thank yourself for not adopting that mindset.

And if you used to have a mindset like that but saw a better future with a better life over the horizon, I applaud you and your ability to push through those feelings.
