Most of us know that swimming provides a fantastic full body workout, but if you don’t come from a swim background, getting started can be a little intimidating. But, good news! If you’ve got a swimsuit and goggles, perhaps a swim cap and kickboard, then all you need to do is find a body of water and get moving. You’ll start reaping the benefits right away!
The important thing to remember is that just getting into the water and moving around provides excellent benefits for both your physical and mental health. If you know the dolphin kick, freestyle, backstroke, or breaststroke, you can do a few laps incorporating those. Or, if you’re ready for more regimented exercise, try showing up at the pool with a couple of workouts in mind. Adjust for your ability by speeding up or slowing down, taking more breaks or pushing yourself longer. And for more tips on getting the most out of your pool time, take a peek at this infographic.
